In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3

This album embodies the fun and spirit of October. What I mean by this is that from the intro song "The Ring in Return" you get this ominous feeling of a great story about be told. The song then leads into "In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3". This song is the title song, of course, of the album and is one of the best songs off the album. This song has one of the best fake endings or encores I have ever heard. The song fades out at the end and then comes back with almost a war chant of "Oh" moving up and down the vocal scale to the tune of the song. In concert this is one of the most epic songs due to the crowd singing this. The next song on the album is "Cuts Marked in the March of Men". This song is the feeling right after a break up. You still love him or her but they don't feel the same. You feel as if your life is coming to an end. "If I can't have her then why should I spend any more time in a world that's going to end pretty soon?" It is over dramatic but captures the way we feel at that time so well. Continuing on the next song is "Three Evils (Embodied in Love and Shadow". This song is hard to explain, I like the song for the ending verse "Pull the trigger and the nightmare stops." How I look at this line is that whatever hardships your going through, if you pull the trigger (whatever the trigger may be) yes it ends that hardship, but it also ends the good things of that situation. The next song I am going to talk about is "The Crowing". This song is the 'moving on' song, It is about him moving on with his love to his next girlfriend. He describes his love for his old and new girlfriend. Saying that his heart is divided, I think this is a good metaphor for the feeling between loving one person and loving the next. Again it is overly dramatic, but is accurate for how we feel at the time. The last song I want to talk about is "Blood Red Summer". This was the first song I heard from Coheed and Cambria and holds a special place in my heart for that reason. The music video has zombies and a cabin. In today's times we wouldn't think of this being that different, but in 2003 this was a new idea and different to what most people were doing. For me this song is about questing why the good things or the bad things happen to us. The chorus from the song is "What did I do to deserve this?". You can look at this as the good things and the bad things. When having something good happen to us in our lives we probably do deserve it. I think all people deserve a good and happy life. When looking at the bad, there may be a reason as well; but look at it as a opportunity to learn something.
