I first want to start with the cover of this album, just by looking at it you can tell its going to be extremely good. The way the blood red pops on the endless black background tells you this album is going to be dark. There might be blood shed, but it will be a unforgettable journey of musical embrace.

The first masterpiece on this album is called "Keeping The Blade". It opens the album with a intro of strings followed by an eerie piano tune; letting us know that a story is about to unfold in typical Coheed fashion. It confirms our suspicion that something is going to happen or may have already happened. But we don't know what it is yet.

The next song on this album is called "Always & Never". The song starts out with an acoustic guitar playing and some little kids laughing and making animal sounds. He is daydreaming about what he would say to his lost love if she would talk to him one last time. Therefore the song starts loving and playful and then he ends it with the phrase "to kill all of you". This note really hits home for me after a relationship ends, referring to the love verses hate that flows through the mind. The following song on the album is "Welcome Home". It is the most well known song by Coheed and Cambria. It was featured on Rock Band and Guitar Hero and MTV in their heyday. This song is about the main character in the story sending his love to her death. Again this is all in the mind of the character but it expresses how he feels.

One of my favorite lyrics is "But if you really loved me, you would've endured my will. If you're just as I presumed, you're a whore in sheep's clothing". I think this verse is important because of all the people in our lives that say they are one thing and are completely another. They are not willing to endure what we go through and don't really love us for being us.

Next I am going to talk about the song "Wake up". I fell in love with this song the first time I heard it. It is slow and written like a love letter, but it ends up not being a love letter in the end. It expresses that no matter how small the relationship or who we are in the world, heartbreak effects us the same.

The last song I want to talk about is "The Final Cut". If I could recommend one song from this album it would be the Final Cut. It has few lyrics and is a masterpiece of creativity and showmanship. When they play this song live, they take about 20 minutes and just jam on stage trying new things and seeing just what they can add to what the other members are doing. It is unlike any other artist of today's times that I know of. This song clearly shows how amazing they truly are.
